‘SEMA Cares’ Paying Visit to Austin Hatcher Foundation Summer Enrichment Camp

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (June 14, 2019) – The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer’s long-running relationship with the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) will be spotlighted on Monday when SEMA Cares Chairperson Sara Morosan visits the first day of the foundation’s 2019 Summer Enrichment Camp.
The first of two camp weeks runs Monday-Friday at the foundation’s Education Advancement Center in downtown Chattanooga, with an “Around the World” theme; the second week of camp on July 15-19 will have an “All About Chattanooga” theme.
The Austin Hatcher Foundation, in addition to its 12 years of SEMA membership, has been part of the prestigious SEMA Cares “Family of Charities” since 2015. SEMA Cares provides its members with a forum to act as a collective influence toward making a positive impact beyond the automotive community. In addition to the Austin Hatcher Foundation, the SEMA Cares Family of Charities includes the Victory Junction camp for children with serious medical conditions and Childhelp, which works to prevent and provide treatment for child abuse.
“This is a special time of year for everyone on our staff and having Sara come to town is making it even more special,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn. “The SEMA Care Family of Charities is a real family, working together to help people each and every day. We are proud to be part of that family.”
The foundation’s Summer Enrichment Camp enables childhood cancer patients, their siblings and other family members to enjoy fun, educational activities in a safe and comfortable environment. The fun starts with Morosan joining campers on Monday morning to build Pinewood Derby cars. This activity is an extension of the foundation’s Diversionary Therapy program, which is offered across the country to supply children and families with a needed respite from the daily challenges presented by a fight against pediatric cancer.
“Our shop builds cars for the SEMA Show every year, and I am pretty sure I get just as excited to build Pinewood Derby cars with the children, as it’s a great way to meet them and see their creative sides come out,” said Morosan, also the vice president at LGE-CTS Motorsports in San Dimas, California, a company specializing in custom build-outs and many other automotive-related areas.
“In the last year or so I’ve had the opportunity to meet with people from the Austin Hatcher Foundation. The passion and commitment they have for their organization is impressive. We love to hear about all the amazing things the foundation is doing for these children and their families.”
