Egg Dyeing Methods

With the holiday just around the corner, it's the perfect time to dye Easter eggs! In this video, Lauren Kelly, our Family Services Coordinator, shares five different methods for decorating Easter eggs in fun and unique ways!

Methods Used In This Video

Crayon Technique -

Use a white crayon to decorate the egg, let it soak in the dye for 2-3 minutes, remove and pat dry.

Rubber Band Technique -

Wrap rubber bands around the egg, let soak in the dye for 2-3 minutes, remove and pat dry.

Painter's Tape Technique -

Cut the tape into a design, wrap egg with tape making sure to smooth out the wrinkles and seal it well, let soak in the dye for 2-3 minutes, remove and dip into another color. Remove immediately and pat dry.

Aluminum Foil Technique -

Scrunch up a piece of aluminum foil, tightly wrap the egg in foil making sure to leave it crinkled, let it soak in the dye for 2-3 minutes. Remove, pat dry, and place in another color dye. Remove immediately and pat dry.

Shaving Cream Technique -

Soak eggs in vinegar. Fill a dish with shaving cream. Smooth out the top. Add drops of food coloring. Use a popsicle stick or toothpick to swirl the colors. Roll the eggs into the shaving cream. Let dry for 20 minutes. Dip in water, pat dry.
