Austin Hatcher Foundation Receives $11,000 Walmart Community Grant Across Nine Stores
· All funds help Foundation provide mental & behavioral health services to families faced with pediatric cancer
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Nov. 20, 2023) – The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the Walmart Community Grant program, receiving a total of $11,000 across nine Walmart stores in the region.
This generous support will enable the Austin Hatcher Foundation to further its mission of providing comprehensive coordinated care for entire families facing childhood cancer. The Foundation offers a variety of essential services aimed at enhancing the well-being of both children and their families during their cancer journey.
The grant allocation includes contributions from the following Walmart stores: #669-Dalton, GA; #1215-Calhoun, GA; #1458-Fort Oglethorpe, GA; #1469-Chattanooga, TN; #2988-Lafayette, GA; #3660-Chattanooga, TN; #5173-Dalton, GA; #5251-Chattanooga, TN and #3659-Chattanooga, TN
“The Walmart Community Grant is a testament to the company's commitment to making a difference in the lives of families dealing with pediatric cancer," said Melanie Hammontree, Director of Development at the Austin Hatcher Foundation. “This funding will enable us to continue providing a wide range of services that address the unique physical, emotional and psychological needs of children and families impacted by cancer. When we partner with our community, we are truly better together.”
The Austin Hatcher Foundation offers a holistic approach to care, encompassing services such as psycho-oncology support, art therapy, music therapy, grief groups, occupational therapy, family programs, diversionary therapy, industrial arts and more. These programs not only assist children going through their cancer treatment, but also help their families cope with the challenges and emotional stress that accompany a cancer diagnosis. All services are provided to the entire family for their entire lifetime, during and after diagnosis.
