CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 17, 2024)- On Monday, May 13, over 100 golfers came together to play for something bigger than the sport: support for families facing the effects of childhood cancer. 28 foursomes gathered at the Farm Golf Club in Dalton, Georgia, for a day of golfing, food, and fellowship, but ultimately to raise hope, awareness, and funds for childhood cancer families to have free access to mental and behavioral health services. This tournament, held on a Monday after the world-renowned Masters Tournament, raised over $126,000, all of which will be used to help advance the mission of the Austin Hatcher Foundation, providing 100%-free psychosocial services to families affected by pediatric cancer.

“This year’s tournament was a huge success,” said Georgia Moore, the Foundation’s Events and Community Relations Manager. “We cannot thank the players, our sponsors, and our Golf Committee members enough for their help. Together, we help the Foundation continue to provide no-cost, vital mental and behavioral health services and resources to children and families facing the realities of pediatric cancer.”

The Austin Hatcher Foundation’s 3rd annual golf tournament was held for the first time at The Farm Golf Club in Dalton, GA.

Local businesses and community members donated special items and experiences for the tournament’s silent auction.

This year’s tournament honored Wynn Eady, Wynn’s mother, Anna Eady, shared a quote about the Austin Hatcher Foundation’s impact on their family:

“I can’t begin to describe what this organization has done for myself, Wynn, and Audrey. During our short time at home, before Wynn got sick again, we were all able to establish care with counseling and both girls enjoyed all of the fun kids camps AHF has to offer. Since Wynn’s passing, both Audrey and I have stayed active participating in grief groups, ceremonies, kids camps, and every event that we are able to attend. It is because of my involvement that I have connected with other “angel moms” in the area which has led to so many other avenues of healing for me. Audrey has also met so many other children who are affected, or their sibling has been affected by pediatric cancer. All services have been completely FREE…but the price for us both is invaluable. As I approach the one year anniversary of losing my daughter I can say with full certainty that this organization has been a huge part of my healing journey. I truly don’t know where I would be without the people I’ve met and the opportunities that have arisen through the AHF.”

The Foundation’s next event is the Celebration of Life and Hope on September 21, 2024. This gala-style event is marked as a night full of family testimonies, celebrated with live and silent auctions, live music, an open bar, specialty cocktails, food, and entertainment, all to support families impacted by pediatric cancer. Various sponsorship levels are still available. Interested companies or individuals may email Melanie@hatcherfoundation.org.
