CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Dec. 17, 2019) – After the devastating theft and destruction of two therapy vehicles in October 2019, it seemed like the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer might not make it to the January 2020 Leake Auto Auction where the two therapy vehicles were to be auctioned to raise much-needed funds.

However, hope was on the horizon again when the Mauzy family from Midland, Texas offered to contribute initial funds needed to begin another therapy build project. The new concept is the 2020 Gladiator Rubicon IASO, named after the Greek goddess of cures, remedies, and modes of healing. These funds, along with donated parts from suppliers such as Magnuson Superchargers, ensure that the foundation will still be able to raise funds by auctioning the 2020 Gladiator Rubicon IASO at the same Leake Auto Auction.

On December 20 at 3 p.m. and December 21 at 10 a.m., Erin Dmytrow, Vice President of Engineering with Magnuson Superchargers, will donate and present a new Magnuson Supercharger Model TVS1900. Patients and their siblings will install the supercharger in the 2020 Gladiator Rubicon IASO as part of industrial arts therapy. This innovative STEM-based therapy allows pediatric cancer patients and their family members the opportunity to learn important life skills, practice physical and occupational therapy, and make fun memories together in a unique environment.

“Having an industry leader like Magnuson Superchargers as a build partner is incredible,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn. “Their products are known for their reliability and performance, and the supercharger makes this therapy vehicle an even more exciting prospect when we take it to the Leake Auto Auction in January 2020. But more importantly, this partnership signifies Magnuson’s commitment to our mission to erase the effects of childhood cancer, and that’s a gift you just can’t put a price on.”

This build date is open to the media as patients complete work on the 2020 Gladiator Rubicon IASO. Anyone interested in attending to take photos, videos, or interview patients must contact Julia Becker at julia@hatcherfoundation.org or (423) 243-3470.
