NGEMC's Operation Round Up Program Grants $4,000 to the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - June 5, 2024 - The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer is pleased to announce that it has received a grant of $4,000 from North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (NGEMC), made possible in part (or in whole) by the generous donations of participating NGEMC members in the Operation Round Up program.
This grant will help children and families facing pediatric cancer thrive. The Austin Hatcher Foundation provides 100% free, comprehensive care to families affected by pediatric cancer during and after a childhood cancer diagnosis.
NGEMC's Operation Round Up program, made possible by the contributions of participating NGEMC members, aims to fund various charitable projects in the community. Through this program, NGEMC members have the opportunity to round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar each month, with the extra change going into the Operation Round Up Fund. These contributions support community development initiatives in Catoosa, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield counties.
"The Austin Hatcher Foundation serves children and families throughout the northwest Georgia region, and this grant from NGEMC's Operation Round Up program provides direct support to these families," said Melanie Hammontree, Director of Development at the Austin Hatcher Foundation. "Our licensed clinicians can work in person with these families, through vital counseling services, occupational therapy exercises, family counseling sessions, and other mental and behavioral health programs designed to combat the effects of childhood cancer.”
The Austin Hatcher Foundation serves as a vital resource for families in the region, offering services designed to improve the quality of life for children battling cancer and their families. With the assistance of NGEMC's grant, the Foundation will be able to continue providing support and hope to families facing the challenges of pediatric cancer.
"We are grateful to NGEMC and its members for their continued commitment to supporting initiatives that truly make a difference in our communities,” said Hammontree. “Through their Operation Round Up program, NGEMC is helping individuals and families succeed by providing essential resources and services, responding to families in crisis, preparing families to thrive in the future, and overall, enriching their communities in meaningful ways. NGEMC’s dedication to improving the lives of others aligns beautifully with our mission at the Austin Hatcher Foundation, and we are honored to partner with them in this important work.”
